France president Francois Hollande in West Africa

The French president has begun a three-day visit to West Africa likely to be dominated by security threats in the region and fostering economic ties. His first stop is in Ivory Coast, before he moves on to Niger and Chad.

France has just announced a redeployment of its forces in the region to tackle Islamist militant groups.
