Isle of Man aerospace industry boosted by £1m training centre

A £1m centre of excellence designed to support the Isle of Man's growing aerospace industry has opened.

More than 1,000 people are employed by Manx firms to manufacture items including ejector seats used by the Red Arrows.

And there could be "hundreds" of job created in the next few years, according to the Department of Economic Development.

Minister Laurence Skelly said: "This is a great opportunity for the Isle of Man and our young people."

According to government figures the high-tech sector contributes 4% of the island's economy.
