Turkey coup soldier 'knew nothing', grieving parents say

Conscript Kurtulus Kaya died on Bosphorus Bridge - apparently beaten to death by a crowd - but his parents say he knew nothing about the coup plot.

The Turkish government treats as "terrorists" the soldiers who took part in the 15 July coup attempt.

A big purge is under way as President Recep Tayyip Erdogan rallies the nation. His supporters mourn the many civilians killed in clashes with rebel soldiers.

But Kaya's parents insist that their son was innocent.
