Public spending cuts affecting Darlington services
Many local governments are already economising before the government's spending cuts come into force, with the elderly and vulnerable feeling the pinch.
In Darlington, public transport and schemes to help the disabled have had their budgets shrunk, and plans for 10 new playgrounds have been shelved.
Graham Satchell met some of the people affected by the first round of cuts.
