Sobering times for drinks maker Diageo as markets shift
Diageo, the world's biggest drinks maker, saw pre-tax profits increase by 12% to £2.24bn in the year to the end of June.
The company, whose brands include Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff and Guinness, said recession in its main US and European markets had had an impact, but that this had been offset by growth in developing countries.
Diageo's overall sales grew 5% to £9.9bn.
