President Obama urges small business bill rethink
US President Barack Obama has urged Republican senators to drop their opposition to a bill aimed at helping small businesses.
He said the $30bn scheme, which provides more credit and tax relief for companies hoping to expand, was "fully paid for" and "would not add to the deficit".
Mr Obama added that "holding this bill hostage was directly detrimental to our economic growth".
