Jaguar Land Rover to retain three UK factories
The car manufacturer, Jaguar Land Rover, has given a big boost to British manufacturing.
The company is creating at least 1500 jobs at its Halewood plant on Merseyside, and is safeguarding its two other British plants, at Castle Bromwich and Solihull, until 2020 at least.
The Unite union - which has agreed a pay deal for staff at the factories - said 4000 jobs could be created in total over the next ten years.
The MP for Birmingham Erdington, Jack Dromey, welcomed the news, saying ''this is brilliant news in bleak times''.
