Barber: Cuts are 'bad economics'

Thousands of union leaders and other campaigners have joined a rally in Westminster in London on Tuesday to protest against cuts to public services.

Union leaders have accused the Government of wanting to drag the UK into a "dismal, downward spiral of despair". The efficiencies contained in the Spending Review will be formally unveiled on Wednesday.

The General Secretary of the TUC, Brendan Barber, said the cuts would plunge the country back into recession with over a million jobs lost.
