EU launches antitrust probe into alleged Google abuses

Europe's competition authorities are launching a formal investigation into Google after rivals complained that the company is abusing its powerful position in the market for advertising around internet searches.

In particular they say that Google lowers the ranks of unpaid search results from competing services.
