Jeremy Hunt on BSkyB: 'Public wants free media'

The British government has approved a controversial bid by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation to buy the 61% stake in BSkyB that it does not already own.

The green light follows News Corp's offer to spin-off Sky News as an independent company.

The decision follows concerns about the concentration of media outlets in the hands of one organisation.

Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt said the public wants a media where no one person is in control.
