Figures show new car sales fell in April

Almost 138,000 new cars were registered in April 2011, which is 7.4% fewer than in the same month last year.

Paul Everitt, chief executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, told the BBC that people are ''having to come to terms with tax increases''.
