Small businesses flourish in the UAE
The region's small businesses were hit by the downturn and now, with the Arab uprising, the sector is facing even more challenges.
But encouraging the growth of small businesses is key to the region's long-term stability - not only can they create jobs but they also promote enterprise and a country's economic development.
The UAE has one of the healthiest examples of a growing small business sector.
Despite obstacles such as red tape, financing and workplace laws, it is recovering well from difficult times.
