Isa sales up on past 10 years

Saving schemes like Isas are more popular than they have been for 10 years.

Figures released by the Investment Management Association (IMA) show that from 1 March to 5 April 2011, net sales of Isas were £956m.

Full-year Isa sales hit £3.7bn, bringing savings back to the previous highs last seen a decade ago.

Richard Saunders, chief executive of the IMA, says people have realised that ''they are having to save more''.
