Europe and US in legal clash over airline emissions

Europe's effort to impose an emissions charge on the world's airlines will be challenged in the EU's top court.

The plan means all airlines using European airports must buy permits to cover carbon emissions - regardless of where they were emitted.

US carriers are demanding the plan be struck down claiming the 27 nation bloc has overstepped its jurisdiction.
