Taiwan to unveil closely-watched growth data

Taiwan unveils new economic growth figures on Friday. Analysts expect the April-to-June quarter to be slower than the first, partly because of the impact of Japan's earthquake.

On the whole, however, the island's economy has expanded steadily since the recession ended.

But voters will be closely monitoring whether strong growth is sustainable ahead of the January presidential elections. Cindy Sui reports from Taipei.
