UK 'not immune' to economic storm
The Chancellor George Osborne has conceded that Britain's economic recovery will be "longer and harder" than hoped.
Speaking during the emergency Commons sitting, he updated MPs on the turmoil in the global markets.
He said that Britain had taken bold steps to secure growth.
The BBC's Business Editor Robert Peston says falls in bank shares reinforce the notion we may get "low growth or even recession".
