Unemployment 'shatters confidence'

The number of people unemployed in the UK rose by 80,000 to 2.51 million in the three months to July, official figures have shown.

This is the largest increase in nearly two years, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

However, some people are managing to find work thanks to courses run by organisations like Learn Direct.

The BBC's Susannah Streeter spoke to Pat shepherd, Tony Hyde and Ingrid Lewis who all recently found jobs in Eccles, Greater Manchester.
