'Fascinating debate taking place on UK economy'

Ministers are discussing how to inject up to £5bn into the economy without abandoning their deficit reduction strategy, the BBC understands.

Some Cabinet members believe Chancellor George Osborne could raise capital spending on infrastructure, according to the BBC's political editor Nick Robinson.

He says a "fascinating discussion is beginning to take place" to try and find ways to stimulate the economy.
