Brussels to strengthen eurozone banks

On Wednesday the European Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso will try and pour oil on the Eurozone's deeply troubled financial waters.

In Brussels he will present a plan to strengthen Europe's banks.

Mr Barroso hopes the Commission's proposals will be an important contribution to the EU summit on October the 23rd - when EU leaders will come together to find a solution that will prevent the continuing credit crisis from spreading to other major economies within the eurozone.
