Gillard hails Qantas strike ruling as flights resume
Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard has welcomed a decision by an independent tribunal to order a permanent end to the long-running industrial dispute at Qantas.
Fair Work Australia issued its ruling after hearing evidence from the airline, unions and government at an emergency session in Melbourne.
Speaking as flights returned to the skies, Mrs Gillard said it was a "win for passengers" and a "win for the one million Australians that work in tourism".
Nearly 70,000 passengers in 22 nations have been affected by cancellations in recent days.
