Airbus A380 cracks are a 'minor safety issue'

The European Aviation Safety Agency has ordered all 67 Airbus A380 planes currently in operation to be checked for wing cracks.

Last month, the agency said 20 of the aircraft should be inspected after cracks were discovered in the wings of Singapore Airlines, Emirates and Air France planes.

A spokesman said that in view of the outcome of those checks, it was decided to expand them to the entire fleet.

But aviation analyst Chris Yates told BBC News that this was a minor safety issue.
