Pensioners are not claiming their cold weather payments
Almost two million pensioners will not get cold weather payments because they do not claim pension credits.
The Department for Work and Pensions says £3bn of it is unclaimed every year.
They are different to winter fuel payments, which are made every winter to those over 60 regardless of the temperature.
To be eligible for cold weather payments, people must already receive pension credits, income support, income-based jobseeker's allowance or income-related employment and support allowance.
Lee Healey is a benefit and tax credit entitlement advisor at Income Max. He told BBC Radio 5 live Wake Up To Money how the extra payments work.
