Unions appeal government's pensions decision
Unions representing millions of workers from teachers to NHS staff have launched an appeal at the Royal Courts of Justice after losing a challenge to the government.
In June 2010, Chancellor George Osborne announced he was switching the measure used to calculate the annual rise in public sector pensions from the higher Retail Price Index (RPI) to the lower Consumer Prices Index of inflation (CPI).
Mark Serwotka, General Secretary of the Public and Commercial Services union, told BBC Radio 5 live Breakfast that the percentage point between the two values was worth the money that would be spent on the appeal.
