Australian bank earnings may slow
During the forthcoming bank reporting season, the main Australian banks are collectively expected to make A$25bn in profits.
But the slowdown in the mining industry and weaker consumer demand has meant that for some banks the future is less certain. That said, all the banks are expected to be profitable.
During the financial crisis none have gone under or needed a bailout. As Duncan Kennedy reports from Sydney, that is the envy of many other countries.
