UK unemployment falls to 2.49m
The number of jobless people fell by 37,000 between September and November to 2.49 million, official figures show.
The Office for National Statistics said that the number of people in work had reached a record high of 29.7 million.
The government has welcomed the figures, but Labour has suggested that the economy is built on "shaky foundations".
