George Osborne says UK is 'helping Cyprus'

The UK government is "trying to help" Cyprus deal with its banking crisis, George Osborne has said.

The chancellor told the Treasury Committee that European and Cypriot authorities had made mistakes, and that the UK's recent experience of dealing with failing banks was being offered as advice.
