Avoid blowing cash on new hobbies, money expert warns

For many, January can be a tough month financially after the excesses of Christmas.

So what is the best way to get things in order?

Martyn James from the Financial Ombudsman Service claims the most important thing is to stay clear of expensive new year hobbies.

He told BBC Radio 5 live's Wake Up to Money: "Don't blow all your cash in one burst of enthusiasm - see if you like it first before you start forking out the cash for a new hobby or interest."
