China backs innovators for growth

The Chinese government spends billions of dollars to promote innovation in the creative industries, with a view to helping the country's economy.

China's economy, the world's second-largest, has shown signs of stabilising, as 2013's growth rate matched that for 2012, official data suggests.

The government is pouring billions of dollars into the creative industries to support entrepreneurs, in the hope of creating higher-end products that will generate higher-paying jobs.
