MP Tim Yeo calls for measures to limit power of big six power firms
Weakening the power of the big six and widening competition is in "everyone's interest," Tim Yeo claims.
The chairman of the energy select committee said that stopping companies from generating and supplying energy would increase competition.
Mr Yeo told BBC Radio 5 live's Breakfast: "It might well improve competition and would certainly reassure consumers."
Energy UK said that there were more than 15 companies for consumers to choose from and they could easily switch suppliers.
