Offshore gas could solve Cypriot territory dispute
The Cypriot Energy Minister, Giorgos Lakkotrypis, has told the BBC that his country's offshore gas discoveries may give Turkey a powerful incentive to agree a settlement over its longstanding occupation of Northern Cyprus.
Gunboat patrols in Turkish-claimed waters around Cyprus have so far discouraged potential investors in Cypriot gas.
