Third of adults believe they may never buy a house
A third of adults under 45 say they have no prospect of owning their own home, a report has found.
The Halifax survey found that despite Government measures aimed at helping people buy, almost half of people believed Britain would become a nation of renters.
Halifax Mortgages Director Craig McKinley told BBC Radio 5 live's Adam Parsons: "There's been a lot of publicity, a lot of government help with schemes like Help to Buy... improving consumer confidence."
"But that hasn't really trickled down to confidence for younger people to feel that they can get on the housing ladder."
