ONS: Air and sea fares behind rise in inflation rate
The UK inflation rate, as measured by the Consumer Prices Index, rose to 1.8% in April from 1.6% in March, according to the Office for National Statistics.
Phil Gooding from the Office for National Statistics told BBC News that the increase was down to higher transport costs, including air and sea travel.
The year to March had seen house prices increase by 8% across the country, he added, "but the largest rise was from London, where prices rose by 17%".
