Sharia-compliant banking on the rise in Zanzibar

Conventional banks in Zanzibar are tapping into a growing market for financial products and services that are compliant with Islamic law.

The island, a semi-autonomous part of Tanzania, has a predominantly Muslim population.

However, there is a demand for banks to provide Sharia-compliant products for both Muslims and non-Muslims across Tanzania.
