M&S boss Marc Bolland rejects criticism over clothing sales
Marks and Spencer boss Marc Bolland has dismissed criticism following the retailer's 13th consecutive quarterly drop in clothing sales, saying consumer research suggests "the style is back" within its range of women's wear.
The company's half-year pre-tax profit fell 0.4% to £279.4m, but underlying profits rose 2.3% to £267.6m which was ahead of expectations.
Mr Bolland explained that the company's margins had been improved through better sourcing of products.
