Government will extend pensioner bonds window

The government has announced that it will be extending the window in which pensioner bonds are available for purchase by three months.

The scheme provides better interest for savers of pensionable age than most banks and building societies.

It has been criticised as a subsidy to wealthy pensioners at the expense of other taxpayers.

Ross Hawkins reports.
