Walmart to raise wages for more than 500,000 employees
The world's biggest retailer, Walmart, is set to raise wages for more than 500,000 employees at its US stores.
Walmart said it would raise salaries for 40% of its full-time and part-time staff to at least $9 per hour, which is above the US minimum wage.
The firm will spend $1bn on the move, which comes amid growing debate about the growing gap between the rich and poor in America.
The BBC's Michelle Fleury explains from New York.
