It's Memorial Day weekend in the United States - traditionally the start of the driving season.
Cheap petrol at the pumps means record numbers of people are planning long trips this year.
Widespread wildfires in Canada and other events around the world have cut off supplies, as explained by Alex Schindler, news editor of Energy Intelligence.
And this extra demand is pushing up the global price of oil.
