NASUWT hopes teachers' strike 'will not be necessary'

Thousands of teachers in England and Wales have voted to strike over changes to their pensions and pay.

The NASUWT union said 80% of members backed the action, but added it was "not inevitable" that they would strike on 30 November.

Head of the NASUWT, Chris Keates, said she hoped strike action would not be necessary, and that negotiations would come to a satisfactory conclusion.
