University personal statements 'flawed'

Personal statements written by prospective graduates in their university applications could be putting state school pupils at a disadvantage.

The Sutton Trust says pupils from independent schools are more likely to shine in the statements they submit.

It says their applications are generally better written and list more prestigious activities than those of state-school pupils.
