Schools and pupils prepare as leaving age increases to 17

From September 2013, young people up to the age of 17 will be expected to stay in full-time education, in an apprenticeship or in employment with training.

According to the Department of Education 5.4% of 16 year-olds are not in education, employment or training.

In 2015, the compulsory education leaving age in England will rise again to 18.
