Margaret Thatcher's vision for education revealed

Margaret Thatcher wanted an overhaul of the structure of English education when she was prime minister, according to files from 30 years ago that have now been made public.

The documents from the National Archives, dating from the mid 1980s, show Mrs Thatcher wanted to make state schools independent of local authorities.
