Childcare recruitment 'catastrophe' looms, say campaigners
Nursery schools have warned the government that its demand for early years teachers to hold good GCSEs in English and Maths is having a "catastrophic" effect on recruitment.
The campaign group Save Our Early Years says it could derail ministers' plans to double free childcare for parents of three and four year olds.
The Department for Education says it is committed to "raising the bar" in the sector.
