Minister: New ranking system focuses on teaching

Several leading universities have failed to score highly in a new ranking of degree teaching standards. The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) has rated 295 institutions bronze, silver or gold according to their standard of undergraduate teaching.

The Universities Minister, Jo Johnson, told the Today programme the whole point of the new ranking system was to get universities to focus on teaching and the outcomes for students.
