UKIP leader Nigel Farage fails to win Thanet South

Nigel Farage has failed to win a seat in the Kent constituency of Thanet South.

The UKIP leader was beaten by Conservative Craig Mackinlay.

Speaking after the result, Mr Farage said that although on a professional level he felt a "degree of disappointment" on a personal level he felt an "enormous weight" had been lifted from his shoulders.
