Liberal Democrats lose Solihull to Conservatives

The Conservatives have seized the Solihull Seat from the Liberal Democrats.

Lorely Burt had taken a slim majority of just 175 into the 2015 election but saw Tory rival Julian Knight claim victory by a margin of 12,902.

Solihull has traditionally been a Conservative seat until Ms Burt took it in 2005.

It completed a disastrous night for the the Liberal Democrats across the country.

Solihull's new MP Mr Knight said he had "knocked on 30,000 doors" during the campaign and was "in tune" with people's concerns.
