Mackenzie Crook 'respects services more after Accused'

Mackenzie Crook has defended the Jimmy McGovern drama The Accused, criticised by the head of the British Army for its portrayal of British soldiers.

General Sir Peter Wall said the programme was "deeply offensive to all those serving".

But Crook, who plays a bullying Corporal, told BBC Breakfast he "came away with even more respect for" those serving in the Armed Forces as a result of the role.

He added that "a lot of the supporting artists... had been in the services", and that the role "is beautifully written".
