BBC boss defends EastEnders' baby swap plot

Scenes of EastEnders' actress Samantha Womack's character swapping her dead child for another baby, have prompted thousands of complaints to the BBC.

John Yorke, the BBC's controller of drama production, defended the storyline.

He said it was in the long tradition of the show dealing with weighty and sensitive issues, and that the BBC is always "mindful of the impact" such stories have on people.
