Glastonbury Festival: U2 and mud

Revellers woke up at the Glastonbury Festival on Saturday coming to terms with muddy fields, and memories of U2's long-awaited headline performance.

It was the Irish band's first festival performance in 20 years.

Early in the set of greatest hits, the band played on as protest group Art Uncut inflated a 20ft balloon emblazoned with "U Pay Your Tax 2".

The band's manager Paul McGuinness said that U2 "is a global business and it pays taxes globally" and is "fully compliant" with Irish tax rules.
