Rising jazz star Esperanza Spalding shines at Montreal Jazz Festival

American multi-instrumentalist Esperanza Spalding was one of the biggest hits at this year's Montreal Jazz Festival, after becoming the first jazz artist to win the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.

The festival's artistic director André Ménard described the 26-year-old vocalist, bassist and composer's recent performance at the 10-day event as "taking it to another level".
