The Artist: Surprise silent movie hit

Among this year's more unlikely contenders for an Oscar nomination is a silent film called The Artist which was shot in black-and-white.

Most of the actors are unknown and the story takes place in the Hollywood of the 1920s and 30s as silent cinema slipped out of fashion.
